The trouble with some things days are that if you do not agree with something rather than someone put up a reasoned argument they brand the person who does not agree with them with a particular tag and at the same time continuously seek to gain publicity.
Take for example the renaming of the street in St. Helier from James Street (named after a Mr. James or perhaps a king) to Rue du Funchal. Whether or not you agree with it my point in an earlier post was that in the current economic climate there are perhaps better things to be doing (such as looking after the newly unemployed and those that cannot afford extortionate payments demanded by Social Security when they have no income coming in). You don't agree with something purely because it appears a waste of time. It is easy however to label any one who doesn't agree with a particular point of view with the emotive tag of a racist.
The next thing of course is that money must be found for a town park. Why? There is no money. A short walk to Howard Davis Park gives you a park. Or you can spend time in the Parade - is this the sort of town park that is envisaged?
And, of course if you don't happen to follow Al Gore and agree with every word of "an inconvenient truth" or agree that the moment the sun shines or the moment it rains or the moment it is windy that global warming is getting worse then you are a "denier" of climate change and fair game to be ridiculed.
